To any of my unemployed friends:
I cannot find this information anywhere, but would you say that money received for participation in a focus group session is considered working income and needs to be declared on your claim continuation form?

I present you with the following problem. My iPod won't charge. I took it to the Apple store, and it started charging just fine there. At home, I tried two different cables, and I tried charging both from the laptop directly via USB, and via adapter straight into the wall outlet. Nothing. I'm pretty sure it's worked in the past. Anyway, at the Apple store I ended up just picking up another charger and brought it home. Nope. No budge, no charge (obviously will have to return the new charger when I come back).
I have an external drive that powers via USB. When I connect it to my laptop, it doesn't detect it. But I know it has in the past.
This got me thinking. Is it possible that the outlets in some houses (I've tried three different ones here) just don't draw enough juice to power things enough? Is that something you've encountered in old Victorian or Edwardian flats in SF? I have one spot in my room, with two wall outlets. One of the wall outlets is used for a strip into which I plug in my stereo, TV, laptop power supply and an extension cord for my lamp. Would all this being pulled from the wall affect the other free outlet? Like, not enough juice to go around? I don't know if that's how it works, so forgive me for the ridiculous nature of the question.
I'm just really irritated.

You know, I shouldn't be bothered. I don't want to think about people or things that irritate me! I'd rather think about GOOD wonderful things. Like Sarah Haskins + her views of chocolate.

I'm currently reading Elizabeth McCracken's "The Giant's House." I really like this quote.
"For some people, history is simply what your wife looks good standing in front of."
Oh, yes.

You've GOTTA see the Scott Walker documentary before it escapes on Thursday. Either at the Shattuck, or Opera Plaza (or, possibly, Lumiere?).
